the game itself is totally overridden by the horrifying UI! The main menu is a turn-off, when that's the most important moment to convince Players that yes, fun is only a click away. the main menu here says something more like "yes, this excel spreadsheet took acid"

the game itself is okay, i didn't get far, but i'm not sure there is a lot of depth at any rate. we've seen this game, more or less...

also, those vehicles are completely traced and/or have heavy photoshop filters applied. The Author here has implied that the work is entirely their own, when in fact these are probably copyrighted/protected images. if the owner of those images recognized them here, if this game were popular enough, there'd be trouble. besides that, it's totally offensive! would have really liked to see credits for the Artist/Photographer on these traced, and technically plagiarized art.

I really hope the Author continues to work hard at improving their design and drawing skills, which are the most obvious flaws here. i'm not very good at it, but this stuff is important:

Also, many of the features are half-done and the background graphic is awfully plain.

As a final thought, the game premise itself is beyond tired. There's nothing wrong with breaking molds even when you feel uncomfortable doing so. maybe that's the most important time to do so, who knows!

peace to the author, and i hope they keep up the hard work, i would love to see a much-improved version of this...

I dont even care about the badness...this was too charming.

Alright, alright, I had enough. i really like the use of Oryx's icons. I think a medieval font and cursor would have been great. small points, maybe, but the bland MS-DOS style font is somewhat bland.

I also didn't understand the use of each Class unit, I presume the elder generates more cash, but it says it "takes" %x. And I never seemed to gather any loot, and knowing the health range on enemies wasn't very useful.

Overall some features seemed useless while others could have been buffed up more. Interesting spin on clicker-upgrade games, but still falls short in many ways. However, still a good way to kill a few minutes here and there.

why even publish this? it's a clone of a game we all used to play years ago, everybody knows that. this took all of about 20 minutes to throw together, I would hope. And then, couldn't even add a scoreboard? and then you have the graphics, which are ugly.

oh man, i'd better stop. really mediocre attempt.

Couldn't do it, y'know? Just too long a game, with no checkpoints and one-hit kills for the Player. which is too bad, because I was really having fun. at about 700HP to go, I had myself a big "hmmm...nahhhh" on any replays. Also I had to go to the bathroom and there was no pause button. I guess I get the "hardcore" atmosphere, but it's just too much.

As a final consideration, this game could have easily been rated "T".

however, i'm glad the intro included a link to the Authors site, where I found a whole bunch of really cool-looking games and a couple of WIP's that were totally fascinating.

Here though, it's just too much of not enough.

out of 10...

gfx - 8 (great, love the SNES-toon style)
sfx - N/A (my speakers are unplugged)
design - 4 (poor planning, feels rushed)
gameplay - 5 (interesting at first, but little variety)

overall, i can't see this one breaking 20,000 views with the rating/score it has now. i think more than anything you will get a big "wtf" from people expecting heavy dollops of mature content (this is Newgrounds after all). And then the other majority of Players will probably be disappointed, underwhelmed, agitated, or just because plain dis-interested as I did. Not trying to say "oh yeah, I got your number" here, just that this could have used a really lite dose of consulting. I hope the Author is more open to that in the future.

Really surprising and cool.

no offense to the author, i can definitely appreciate the classic style here. however, "classical" mechanics like this are really antiquated. I feel like the Author might have cut themselves short by staying so true to the retro style.

For example, after going so long on the first world, I touched some fire randomly because my character decided to swing around for no reason. so i died, and found myself at the beginning with no reward and nothing to convince me that the fairly-mundane obstacle course I just ran would be worth running again.

So I quit.

I will still give my own opinion-based rating, but please be aware it's only based on maybe two minutes of gameplay.

GFX - 7 (great late-90's "fat-pixel" style)
SFX - 0 (heard none or any music).
DESIGN - 4 (antiquated design, poor showmanship)
GAMEPLAY - 3 (character twitchy, hitTest is poor, worlds are dry)

I say "poor showmanship" above because as I was looking to see if the Author had included sounds, and then checking to see if there was a mute button included as a matter of courtesy to players, I instead found a "GIVE ME MONEY' button...and all I could think was that it was a bit presumptuous to think that this would be worth money. I work pretty hard, man. I have a credit card here, right here in my hand. I could give you a buck. I could give you five. But I think about how hard I worked to earn that buck and aren't convinced you deserve more than I do.

In conclusion, nothing personal.

"the page you are on has grabbed your wrist as you try to leave, and is asking if you're manly enough as the adverts for this game make it seem you need to be in order to play this game.

Look man, when games start trying to stop me from using what I like to call "my computer", then that's like red-flag central. Rude, grabby, tactless, and probably offensive in its assumption that I'm really that dumb.

That's never happened to me on NG, before. So rude.

i think that the game itself is keyboard only, it doesn't make sense to make the player fumble over to their mouse every five seconds that they die. why not just press space?

also, a lot of the art feels sort of half-assed, too many tweens that don't hold together.

i want to say that i stopped playing the game itself because i didn't really feel like there was anything different in terms of mechanics that i hadn't played in any of the previous installments. in fact, as someone else said, it honestly feels like a a chip in the quality.

that said, i stopped playing the game just to kind of look at what was going on. the dinosaurs are great. the cavemen are amazing, on their raft and all, it's all so good. but i really felt like they were completely wasted on being blurs rushing by while you try to hit them with a what? caveman club? totally undermined.

i think this sort of design could be put to something that would really blow my lid, rather than this franchise of unchanging, un-challenging, one-button piano rolls.
